Bourbon Eventure had the pleasure of taking guests on a sensory journey at the Winter Showcase at Front & Palmer in Fishtown, formerly owned by Feast Your Eyes Catering, Philly's premier caterer. What an incredible evening filled with amazing guests, incredible food, music, and of course, spirits!

Bourbon Eventure was invited to provide a tasting experience paired specifically with the Feast Your Eyes Catering delectable menu. Overall it was a well-received, fun and interactive experience with the crowd favorite pairing of the evening being the Chicken and Waffles with Shinobu Blended Whisky Mizunara Oak ~ winner, winner, chicken dinner!

The Feast Your Eyes Catering staff did an amazing job keeping the trays full for me all night as they had passed hors d'oeuvres, stationary hors d'oeuvres and dessert as well. Here's just a few of the delicious choices guests had the opportunity to sample:

Hot Passed Hors D'oeuvre

Jerk Chicken Breast Skewers ~ Grilled pineapple, lime, pickapeppa Aioli

I personally enjoyed this paired with Glenlivet 12 Year with it's silky, vanilla sweetness followed by a rich fruit dancing around the spices and pineapple.

E.H. Taylor Bourbon: A bourbon rich sweetness such as that of the E.H. Taylor caramel corn and butterscotch notes balance out the heat of the jerk spices while complimenting the sweetness of the grilled pineapple.

New Liberty Millstone Rye: Sweet in the middle of your palate with the peppery spice on the side of your tongue echoes the jerk seasoning, providing a contrast to the sweetness of the grilled pineapple and the tanginess of the aioli.

Port Charlotte Scotch: With the smoky, peaty notes, it compliments the spiciness of the jerk seasoning.

Chicken and Waffles ~ Crispy fried chicken breast, waffle bite, pimento cheese, red pepper maple drizzle.

Maker's Mark Bourbon - Caramel, vanilla and baking spice enhances the maple drizzle complimenting all the savory notes of the chicken and cheese

Shinobu Blended Whisky (Japanese Whisky)~ Caramel, honey, toffee and dried fruits greet the entire combo with just a hint of texture and spice for a long, lingering, satisfying bite! (My favorite too!)

Stationary Hors D'oeuvre

Vietnamese Summer Roll ~ Rice noodles, mango, thai basil, cilantro, mint, and sweet & spicy thai dipping sauce

Nikka From The Barrel Japanese Whisky ~ Silky, fruity flavors played well with the fresh herbs, sweet mango and dipping sauce

Shinobu Blended Whisky (Japenese Whisky) ~ Vanilla, cherry and candied fruit harmonize with the sweetness of the mango while enhancing the thai spice

Now, as it's my goal to find combinations that are both educational and enjoyable for all, it wouldn't be fair if I gave away the full menu pairing at one time, therefore more pairings will be posted in additional blogs so be sure to check back!
